After almost a year of using vox.com I've moved my blogging issues to WordPress.com and tumblr.com.

My main blog is at gpgemini.com

And a secondary one at gpgemini.tumblr.com

I was unalbe to move my posts from vox to WordPress so I'll keep this one running for the sake of archives, but it shall see no more postings .... [R.I.P.]

Shira Carmel
Shira Carmel

Just to show that one could do it a bit differently.

Here is Shira Carmel, an Israeli indie singer & songwriter, with a delightful cover to "My Humps".
It's a surprisingly pleasant song to listen to.
Seriously.
Visit Shira's site for more of her songs, you'll be surprised.

In case you need the original link, though I'm sure none does, but just in case:

Ancient Akko
Ancient Akko

I was in Akko last Thursday, there was supposed to be an Anime convention there, but it got canceled due to a local strike.
So stuck in Akko with a camera and a day off, I went on a self guided tour near the ancient wall of Akko, which used to defend the city from invasions by sea.

Here are some of my Akko Photos.

This guy is amazing !
He's tap playing on two guitars, with superb speed and accuracy.

Watch him do The Simpsons:

Gordon And Alex
Gordon And Alex

I know it's a year too late, but after playing Half Life 2 all I have to say is wow ! wow ! WOW ! and W*O*W !!!
It's an amazing game !
The graphics are mind boggling, everything looks so real, you feel like you're actually there.
Top notch physics give it an even higher sensation of reality.
Excellent AI, both of enemies and friends.
Not too easy and not too hard to pass,
and a tantalizing story line.
Everything just comes together into a smooth and fun gameplay.

It undoubtedly sets a new bar for FPS games.
After playing CS 1.6 for a couple of years, and now playing HL2, Valve is definitely my favorite game manufacturer.

Here are some of my screenshots (forgive the low-end graphics card):

Tedtalks
Tedtalks

Dan Gilbert on TEDTalks talks about synthetic happiness and the pursuit of happiness.
It's a short (~20 minute) lecture, definitely worth watching.

On a side note, the "My spoon is too big" thing - caught up on YouTube on a ridiculous scale.

Dear LucasArts

Thousands of adventure gamers have enjoyed playing "Grim Fandago", the best skeleton adventure game ever!!!
But unfortunately, they complete it and now the cry... To stop that crying we ask you to create and release the sequel of this game "Grim Fandago 2" (Look how pretty it looks :)). We need more Manny. PLEASE!!!
We hope to see it soon... very soon... Pleeeeeeaaase...

LucasArts created some of the best adventure games ever, one of them is Grim Fandango.
But since those glorious days, LucasArts has faded away, and many of the fans are demanding a sequel.
Sign the petition, and maybe someone in LucasArts will answer the call.

The same goes for "Monkey Island V"
