Gmail is undoubtedly the best web-based email client out there today.
But since it has been releases on April 1st 2004, and upgraded on April 1st 2005, it has hardly received any new upgrades, not even the long anticipated message size column.
Well, thanks to Firefox, and a programmer named Mihai, we can all enjoy some new and useful Gmail power-ups.
This is made possible thanks to GreaseMonkey, a Firefox extension that allows changing a web page's behavior using user written scripts.
Mihai, who is also a Google programmer, uses this extension to write some interesting Gmail features that Google never made themselves:
Saved searches

Also, check out lukebaker's update to this script.
Shortcuts & Color Labels

Adds some new Gamil shortcuts such as: 'R' to mark as Read, 'T' to send to Trash, 'P' to mark as Read and Archive (stands for Purge).
You can easily edit the script and add your own customized shortcuts.
You can also color your labels to make important ones stand out.
Note that too many colors can make your inbox look overwhelming.
Gmail Conversation Preview Bubbles

This allows you to preview a conversation with just a right-click on it.
You can send it to Trash, Archive it, or leave it Unread.
Google Reader Redux

With this script you can view your Google Reader feeds inside Gmail.
It shows as a folder just like Inbox, Sent, Chats and etc.
